Aims & Objectives:
Sri. Kandukuri Veeresalingam is a great personality who was a social reformer as
well as a literary reformer. He made very good use of literature and magazines to
deplore the unhealthy social practices in the society, criticize the deviant trends in
the literature and to promote the well being of women in the society. This
programme has been organized with a view to introduce his twin literary works
“Abhagyopakhyanamu” and “Saraswathi Narada Vilapamu” to the students and to
commemorate the services rendered by Kandukuri Veeresalingam for ushering in
reforms in the society as well as Telugu literature.
Report:
The guest lecture on Kandukuri Kavyadvayamu was held in the Virtual class room
from 4.00 pm to 5 pm on 21.02.2022. The programme was presided over by Smt.
Ch. Ramanamma, the Principal of the college. Dr. Satram Malleswara Rao, Retired
Principal, BBH Degree College, Vetapalem and Dr. P. V. Subba Rao, Retired
Principal, C. R. College Degree, Chilakaluripeta participated in the programme as
Special Guests. Smt. Ch. Ramanamma, the Principal, Dr. Satram Malleswara Rao,
Dr. P. V. Subba Rao, the special guests and Dr. N. Vijayalakshmi, Head of
Department of Telugu released the book titled as Kandukuri Kavyadvayamu. Smt.
Ch. Ramanamma, the Principal expressed her happiness regarding release of the
book of Kandukuri who made great contribution for progress of women in the
society.
Dr. Satram Malleswara Rao, Retired Principal, BBH Degree College, Vetapalem, who
delivered the guest lecture, complimented Dr. Toomati Sanjeeva Rao, Secretary,
Cheenapuri Telugu Vani, for publishing the book Kandukuri Kavyadvayamu along
with commentary. He explained the salient features of “Abhagyopakhyanamu” to
the students. Dr. N. Vijayalakshmi, who spoke on the occasion, made references to
important features of “Saraswathi Narada Vilapamu” and explained the intention of
Kandukuri Veeresalingam behind authoring this work. The faculty of the college and
42 students attended the guest lecture.
Outcome:
By attending the guest lecture, the students were able to become aware of the
significant contribution made by Kandukuri in bringing much needed reforms in the
society and Telugu literature. They were able to develop awareness regarding the
specific reforms promoted by Kandukuri in the field of Telugu Literature.
