INTRODUCTION TO DEPARTMENT

Zoology is a branch of biological science. It deals with the study of animals including man.It has played a significant role in improving the quality of life of mankind and in the field of aquaculture, poultry, dairy etc. There are many job opportunities in Aquaculture .The advanced research in this subject has helped the people to have longer life expectancy. Hence, learning this subject has become good objects of the student.

BRIEF HISTORY

The department of zoology was started in the year 1996(15-08-1996) at intermediate level with Zoology as one of the subjects in the combination of Biological Sciences & Physical Sciences and at the degree level i.e. B.Sc., course with group of Botany,Zoology and Chemistry in Telugu Medium
Several eminent persons worked in the department and some of them became principals Kum. Srinivasulamma, Sri Nagendra Sai, Sri. K. Subba Rao, become Principals.
In the year 1998 Zoology is replaced by Fisheries with the combination of Bio-Chemistry and Microboliology in English Medium.
In the year 2000-2001 fisheries and Bio-chemistry were again replaced by Zoology and Chemistry, which have been present since the inception of the college
In the year 2000-2001 Zoology was offered for B.Sc. M.Z.C. Program me along with microbiology.
In the 2014-15 B.Sc, B.Z.C. programme was introduced and Zoology was offered along with Botany and chemistry combination.
From 2015-16 CBCS has been introduced with General Elements and Cluster Elements accordingly to the needs of the students.

The Department promote the discovery and broad knowledge about the biology of animals, evolution and their environments. The holistic development of the student and make them able.And to inhere amongst the students the highest values of life, respect for Nature and to inculcate sound acquisition of knowledge of animal sciences through quality educational practices and research.

Our mission is to offer high quality education dedicated to building minds with social and moral responsibility. We are committed to educating the students beyond the confines of a class room to make them better individuals and develop their personalities, enabling them to face the challenges of the modern world .

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

Conducting educational tour to giving exposure to the students by visiting Animal park, dairy industry, Sericulture, fisheries, poultry forms, zoo etc.
To motivate students to conduct seminars, workshops on the topics included in the curriculum. It will help in achieving academic excellence and exposure.
To provide a comprehensive training in theoretical and practical Zoology and Environmental Biology to students.
To equip students with adequate practical skills that will enable them function productively in society.
To produce leadership in science and technology.
To sensitize human society for animal welfare, conservation and protection of biodiversity.
To create awareness of INSITU conservation of wild life.
To develop the attitude of the students to concentrate on applied science aspects
Transform society through the empowerment of women
To develop research aptitude and a scientific advancement.
